Our Name Origin

  One sunny weekend in July 2008, my soccer team and I headed to Kenora, Ontario for a soccer tournament.  In between our very early morning game and our evening game we decided to take in the sights and sounds (and stores!) that Kenora had to offer.  We came across a store that was selling banadas off for very cheap and most of us decided to get one for our next game.  We had all agreed that looking super badass suited our team perfectly.  From then on everything we did was commented on about being badass.  We were too badass to go there and that over there wasn't badass enough for us (obviously).  Some of us even went as far as to purchase aviator sunglasses to complete the badass look.  After rocking the socks off all of the teams in the tournamnet we headed back to our coaches cabin to rest up for the final in the morning (and to celebrate just a bit badass style!). 
  Every soccer team knows that there is a need for more players in the outdoor season than the indoor one and during our celebration a couple of my team mates over heard our coaches talking about this issue.  On the drive home from Kenora the next day, the 5 of us in the car naturally were upset about this topic.  The next 2 hours were devoted to figuring out what we should do (apart from stopping to get gas and witnessing 2 young men being arrested for possession of a giant size bag of marajuna and open alcohol in their car).   
  The 5 of us decided that it would be best to seperate from our team and create our own! Considering there were only about 10 girls on the team we got along with and we were not a very big fan of our coach, the decision was easy!  The hard part was putting the rest of a team together and joining the Winnipeg Women's Soccer League! Tons of paper work later, the league form asked us for our team name.  My co-founder and I immediately knew we wanted to be "The Badasses"...becuase we of course are! But the preseident of the league wouldn't allow that as a name so we finally settled on BA United and we will always know in our hearts with the BA stands for!
